Green Chocolate Smoothie
Healthy fats with lots of greens make this quite a treat! The greens can be spinach, kale, broccoli, zucchini etc. Get creative!
This one is built to solve a specific problem: getting a serve of greens in without tasting like a green smoothie. The chocolate protein powder and cacao do the heavy lifting on flavour, meaning the three cups of frozen greens (spinach, kale, or whatever you have on hand) essentially disappear into the background. That matters more than it sounds, because the vegetables you'll actually eat consistently are the ones you don't have to force down. Frozen greens are also a practical, no-waste way to use up whatever is starting to wilt in the crisper drawer. On the metabolic side, the combination of protein powder and peanut or nut butter means this smoothie has real staying power. Protein and healthy fat together slow gastric emptying, which translates to steadier blood sugar and fewer mid-morning energy dips compared with a smoothie built on fruit alone. The frozen banana adds just enough natural sweetness and creaminess without needing added sugar.
From a gut perspective, the fibre in the greens feeds your gut bacteria, and doing this regularly (rather than as an occasional green smoothie phase) is what actually shifts the diversity of your gut bacteria over weeks. This is also one of the faster options on the recipe list: everything goes in a blender in the order listed, blend for under a minute, and it's done. For anyone who skips breakfast because they don't have time, or reaches for something less useful out of habit, this is a genuine five-minute alternative that still delivers on protein, fibre, and flavour.
Ingredients
1 ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk

3 cups of frozen greens
Method
Add ingredients to the container of a blender in the order listed.
Turn the blender on low and slowly increase to high speed.
Blend until smooth (about 50-60 seconds)
